Make your vote count.

Hi Everyone,

Isn't it great to once again see some nice weather. Well it was there for a little while. Soon we will be into the Christmas season and everyone's attention will be on buying for Christmas and business will be the last thing on their minds.

The big news this week is the election. As I walk past people in the street I often hear people talking about the election. We've decided to join in and have a bit of fun with the topics, by putting a bit of an election spin on them.

I cover topics like:
  • How to increase your profile without kissing babies.
  • How to make your vote count, on the Internet.
  • How you can make more income without a tax cut.
This month we announce JustLocal as a Virtual Profit Sharing opportunity and we release our brand new JustLocal "book" page where we will be helping Australian authors promote their books.

We hope you enjoy reading our political coverage as much as we have enjoyed writing it.

How to increase your profile without kissing babies.

I don't know about you, but if I went about kissing babies in public, I might end up in jail. Just as it is important for politicians to keep their profile high (particularly around election time), so it is true for your business.

Do you send out emails or newsletters and touch base with your customers regularly?

Remember the old saying, "out of sight, out of mind". This applies to politicians and to business.

The beauty of the Internet, is it is now possible to keep in contact with clients for nothing more than a little time. Don't your clients deserve a little of your time?

It has taken some time, but we now have an approach which will allow you to produce a professional quality newsletter to keep in contact with your clients. This newsletter is in an example of the approach.

For JustLocal friends who aren't touching base with their clients as often as they should, this is a great opportunity.

For JustLocal friends who promote their business on JustLocal (and of course are fully paid up), I would like to offer until the end of November, the ability to create and send a newsletter just like this one.

The offer:
  • You get free use of the template I used to produce this newsletter. Value $49.50. An exclusive benefit of being a JustLocal friend.
  • A copy of the MyAnswers solution 1788 which provides instructions on how to create your own newsletter.  Value $9.90, but definitely worth much more.
Yes, as an existing JustLocal friend this is yours for the asking. Most businesses only provide the free goodies to entice new business. This is my way of saying thank you for your support.

However if you are not yet a JustLocal friend on a post code page, join up at the normal rate of $110 a year and take advantage of the above offer. Remember this offer is only until the end of November.

What if you don't even have a web site?

That is the best part of the template. It can also be used to create a web site and you can be up and running on the Internet tomorrow. Our Virtual Profit Sharing page (www.VirtualProfitSharing.com) was created using the template and was live in around an hour and a half.

You may also wish to check out the following:
  1. MyAnswers solution 1785 which shows how you can put your business on the Internet for $10US. That is the approach I used for the Virtual Profit Sharing site.
  2. If you already have a domain but no web site, then try MyAnswers solution 1790.
The MyAnswers solutions by the way are what others charge you hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars to do for you. We share our knowledge for $9.90 per solution to help you grow.

Need someone to professionally check your work?

It certainly doesn't hurt to have someone check your work if you are going to send it out to tens, if not hundreds of people. If the thought of a typo keeps you awake at night, relax. We have waiting in the wings Renée Barber of Rising Star Designs & Communications, who will very cost-effectively check your work. An experienced editor, writer and designer, Renée will make your writing look better than the winner's speech on results night.

How to make your vote count, on the Internet

Your vote at the next election may make a difference, but on the Internet you can really make your vote count.

Have you heard of the term "link love"?

Link love is what happens when you place a comment in another person's blog or forum on the Internet and include a link back to your site. You help them and in return, the link love helps you. Imagine if every time you paid your taxes you received something back. Well that is how link love works.

Do you know that every link on your site to another site is helping the other site. The question then is, is the other site helping you?

Wikipedia for example was built on link love. The assistance of many people helping and in return Wikipedia would provide link love back. That has all changed with the introduction of the nofollow attribute which they add to external links in the code for their web pages. The links still work, but they gain no value in search engines such as Google.

Introduced to try to beat spammers, the nofollow attribute now allows you to selectively decide who gets your link love.

Now there is a rumour (as there always is when love is concerned) that Google may actually take the links on your site and give ranking to others based on your rank and split that up amongst the number of links. True or not I don't. That is what is exciting about rumours.

But let's say it is true.

If on your site you have links to a few close friends and businesses you really want to help, and then a whole bunch of links to useful sites such as Acrobat reader, Google, Wikipedia, then you may be watering down the effectiveness of your link love. By adding the nofollow attribute to your less important links, you may increase the effectiveness of the link love for those you want to help more.

The Internet is truly amazing. Knowing about link love, may just make your vote count more on the Internet.

How you can make more income without a tax cut

The politicians are great at promising tax cuts. What I really found interesting is that somewhere around the 1920s the politicians worked out if you want to take something away from people (increase taxes) you give them something less in return (perhaps a slight increase in childcare or education as an example).

So how can you increase your income without a tax cut?

Check out Virtual Profit Sharing (www.VirtualProfitSharing.com).

Virtual Profit Sharing is a new concept we have introduced. It is so profoundly different to current business models that it is truly exciting.

The first beneficiaries of our new approach are those joining the Read's Office Supplies Virtual Profit Sharing system.

Congratulations to all of those receiving income this month and a special congratulations to Kylie Carr, for being the top income earner. High five as we say Kylie. You should be proud of yourself.

HOT NEWS - JUSTLOCAL BOOK PAGE

At JustLocal we help people. Our latest project is a joint venture set up to help Australian authors.

If you are an Australian author and have books to sell, visit our JustLocal book page at www.JustLocal.com.au/book.

With Christmas soon here, a book always makes an excellent gift. Support a fellow Australian and check out the authors on the JustLocal book page.
These are books you may not find anywhere else.

Authors provide a PDF so you get to read some of their work before you buy. I've checked out the authors and the material is very good.

We are just starting the JustLocal book page,
so please visit the page regularly and check out the excellent work of Australian authors as they come on board.

Once again thank you for taking time out of your day, so we can share what is happening at JustLocal.

May your political party be successful.
