In this edition of JustLocal News, we share a few of the ways we have used JustLocal to save us time, money, and petrol. The same savings are now available to you.

Savings

Chemist items

Compare the value offered by ePharmacy. The same group well known for their discount chemist stores. We wrote down and made a single purchase of all the things we needed. The saving was $40.

Discount accommodation

With last minute accommodation now being available on Quickbeds for the next 28 days, it can be very easy to book discounted accommodation when you need it. We saved $50 on a recent overnight stay.

DVD rentals

With school holidays fast approaching what could be better than a two week free trial of five DVDs from Quickflix. Amazingly the cost of postage in both directions is paid for by Quickflix and even the envelopes are provided. The saving we estimate to be around $15-$30.

Telephone calls

Raymond estimates he is saving $90 a month (over a $1,000 a year) in telephone calls using Freshtel's firefly service. With the ability to make voice calls from a computer, to a normal telephone anywhere in Australia for the fixed price of ten cents, doing business, or keeping in touch becomes a whole lot more affordable.

Antivirus/antispyware software

We think this is a real win for everyone. A few weeks ago one of the top commercial antivirus companies made their software available for free with an arrangement with AOL.

Every computer should not only have antivirus software installed, but also antispyware. We used to use Vet which we considered to be the best antivirus software. Because Vet cannot handle spyware, we are replacing Vet on all our family, friends and contacts machine. At a saving of $62 per copy this is a massive saving for everyone.

The Antivirus software can be found on the Free Software page. A page where we list the software we consider to be business grade, and that we use and have used to save our clients well over a $100,000.

In the spotlight

In each newsletter we will share our experience with a JustLocal advertiser. The spotlight this time is on National Toner & Ink.

Until we met Jan, dealing with recycled toners was not cost effective for clients. Problems with products and suppliers cost more than the savings.

The difference with National Toner & Ink is they fully back their products. Whilst this has been rarely needed, the support when there has been a problem, separates them from most of the other recycled toner suppliers.

Make sure you are getting what you pay for with recycled toners. Print a solid black page. If the black is streaky then you are getting low quality recycled toners. National Toner & Ink guarantee their product is as good as an original.

National Toner & Ink will also repair a range of laser printers, and supplies quality third party ink cartridges for inkjet printers.

I met Chitra at the recent Young Achievement Australia exhibition at Jeff's shed. It was very impressive to visit the many stands, and to see first hand the talent and imagination of the younger generation.
