JustLocal News
Hi Everyone, First a BIG thank you. Thank you for your support of JustLocal. JustLocal is now in the top one percent of websites world wide according to the Alexa traffic monitoring site. (Alexa is owned by the well known Amazon book company and runs their service on the Google servers.) This excellent traffic rating would not have been possible without your support. As we move into the festive season, I decided this month to look for ways JustLocal could help make your holiday period bigger and better. Perhaps some of the following ideas may help. FREE Offer Everyone who takes holidays over the Christmas period returns to a mountain of emails. Many of the emails will potentially be harmful. In appreciation for your support I would like to offer you, your family, and your friends, the opportunity to use OzEfilter until the end of January for FREE. After January you can decide to purchase OzEfilter, or simply remove it from your computer. No hassles, and no questions asked. The OzEfilter program deletes unwanted emails at the mail server safely away from your computer. Those who use OzEfilter love it. It is the only program which again gives them control over their emails. If you or someone you know would like to take advantage of this great opportunity, send me an email and I will send you a copy of OzEfilter.
TALK TO YOUR FAMILY Christmas is a time for catching up with family and friends. For those you can't be with, catch up using Freshtel's firefly service. If both of you have an appropriate broadband plan, you can talk to each other for FREE. All each of you need is an inexpensive headset. If you are the only one with broadband, then you can do what I do. I call long distance by using the $5.95 a month plan. For $5.95 a month I receive $6 of credit, and calls cost me a fixed 10 cents per call, to call anywhere in Australia. That's right. By using my computer I can call anyone in Australia for 10 cents, and so can you. Another useful and money saving tip is to know Freshtel charges 29 cents a minute for calls to mobiles. They charge per second with a minimum cost of 15 cents (based on the calls I have made). That means you can make a quick 30 second call for less than sending an SMS message, and it certainly beats the 35 cents flag fall charged plus your call charge if using the normal telephone. This is a great way to contact your children when they are out and about with their friends over the Christmas holiday. With everyone at home using the telephone over Christmas, Freshtel's firefly is like having a second telephone line without the expense. We know one JustLocal advertiser saves over a thousand dollars a year using Freshtel. We use it for more than 50% of our calls, and find the quality to be very good. Featured JustLocal advertisers Free For Community Use The past year has been an exciting year. For me personally, apart from getting to know some great people, one of the rewarding aspects of JustLocal is the Free For Community Use section of JustLocal. With your support I have now been able to provide free advertising to promote the National Breast Cancer Foundation, BacLinks, Cottage By The Sea and a number of other organisations. Your support is helping others. Australian English spell check dictionaries One of my gentler passions has been to provide the first prescriptive Australian English spell check dictionaries. The dictionary files are now used by tens of thousands of Australians. As more people use Internet based applications the need for Australian English spell checking dictionaries is increasing. With the dictionary files we produce you now have the ability to spell check your online forms using Australian English. If there is one gift I can give you, it is the ability to spell check your work. Whether you use Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, OpenOffice.org, Thunderbird, Outlook Express, Outlook, or Microsoft Word, the files I produce may be able to help you. Thanks once again for your continued support of JustLocal. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Kelvin Eldridge PS.
