Hi Everyone, In this months newsletter I want to share something very special and so this newsletter will only cover one item. A while ago it came to my attention that many organisations, such as charities and not-for-profit organisations can obtain in-kind goods and services with the kind generosity of others, but obtaining cash is much more difficult. It is often easier for professionals or tradespeople to give an hours worth of time, than to give cash. Retailers likewise may find it easier to give stock than cash from the register. It occurred to me the missing link is how to convert in-kind donations to cash. I believe I have found a solution that is fun for everyone and will enable more people to give in a way they can. This will assist charities and many other organisations to raise money for their members and those they support. To get the ball rolling we asked for help from JustLocal friends. Who is Sharon and why is she up for auction. With the success of this auction, all charities and not-for-profit organisations will have an exciting new way to raise funds. I think this is worthwhile, don't you? The prize Sharon is donating a month of business coaching services valued at $1,250. But the successful bidder will be able to obtain Sharon's services for an amazing $12.50. Yes, that is not a misprint. If you run a business, or know someone who runs a business, having someone like Sharon assist your business for just $12.50 is an amazing offer. The auction We have organised with Online Bidz for a very special type of auction, which is known as a highest unique bidder auction. You can submit bids from 1 cent to $12.50. There are 300 bids allowed and once all bids have been submitted, the highest unique bidder, which will be someone who has made a bid between 1 cent and $12.50, will win Sharon's services. How then is the money raised? Each bid you place costs $2. Just like buying a raffle ticket. To win you can try to use strategy, or you can leave it up to lady luck. The choice is yours. The result We have asked Online Bidz, the business running the auction, to accept 10% for their services and 4% to cover costs. This means 86% of the money raised will go to charity. The charity to receive the money raised is BacLinks. In our experience BacLinks have a great approach to bringing businesses and people in need together for mutual benefit.
